Lately a lot of believers ask the question why they cannot simply stay at home on Sunday, read the Bible by themselves and watch some online service? The youth minister Konstantin Gogolev spoke on this urgent subject at the service of “Philadelphia” church in Izhevsk on February 4. He supplied three main reasons why we should not forsake our assembling. According to the Scripture the church assembling is the closest place to Heaven (Matthew 18:20), the best place for edifying (1 Timothy 3:15), and the best place for worshipping (James 5:13). At the end the preacher pointed that the church is our spiritual family, its strength is in its relationships. That is why as Cyprian, bishop of Carthage said: “He can no longer have God for his Father, who has not the Church for his mother”.

Youth pastor Vladimir Batalov offered the church to rise above the routine, fancy for a while and realize that we actually have God Who is able to change our mind and circumstances. Prophet Jeremiah turned out to be in a heavy situation but God told him to take forth the precious from the vile (Jeremiah 15:19). Sometimes God consciously creates some hardships to let us understand that we have supernatural power. Find this tiny thing God gave you and start developing it to find the better (Philippians 1:10). More than that the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14-30 calls us to use our unique gifts because we are responsible for them. The preacher pointed out that on this way we will inevitably face some obstacles and temptations, but we must overcome them and make every effort to do more and better. In conclusion Vladimir reminded that our efforts and prayers won’t just disappear. Once we will reap a harvest “if we do not give up” (Galatians 6”9).
