On February 11 at Sunday service in “Philadelphia” church in Izhevsk Iljyas Mukhametdinov preached on the freedom of a conscious choice. The Gospel speaks more than once that instead of sin we can choose freedom in our Lord. Freedom here is not necessarily a social or physiological factor – we can be in prison or ill, but these external things can not deprive us from inner freedom – when it comes to God, ourselves and the world.  The minister preached on why it is important to take responsibility for your decisions, how to stop indulging your whims, and what kind of fast God has chosen. (Isaiah 58:6-7).

Senior pastor Pavel Zhelnovakov preached on passionate love. What can rule this world? The answer is relationships. It can be either relationships of passionate love or relationships of all-absorbing desires. The consequences of desires (that is persistent wish to possess and use) are pernicious (James 4:1-7): envy, revenge, lie, slander, quarrels, murder – they are pernicious first of all because one cannot have them and at the same time live together with God. The Scripture says: “He jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us”. Jealousy does not come together with adultery; it cannot tolerate it – in the same way God does not tolerate any symptoms of desires that emerge in our hearts. The call to submit to God (James 4:7) is like a life saving anchor for a ship. To stay in the limits of relationships of passionate love means to show His light to the world.
