The key of David

On October 22 at the Sunday service of “Philadelphia” church in Izhevsk senior pastor Pavel Zhelnovakov spoke of the people in the Bible’s history who fulfilled God’s will in the way the Lord’s heart wanted them to. For example, such person was Enoch that God took away from earth so he didn’t face death: “ Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away» (Genesis 5:24). Besides Enoch such people were Noah, Abraham, Moses, and the Apostle Paul. Such was the king David of whom it is said that he was a man after God's own heart (1 Samuel 13:14)

In Revelation it is said that Jesus has placed before the church Philadelphia an open door that no one can shut, and it was opened with the key of David (Revelation 3:7-8). The church in Izhevsk founded in 1992 was named after that ancient city of Asia Minor with the aim to embody all the good that was said by the Apostle John in his prophecy about that city. For that church the door was open by the key of David. There’s no doubt that we see this name again, this time in the end of the Bible, only for one reason – David was a man after God’s heart. The pastor called the church not to leave their intention and search for the opportunities to fulfill God’s will in their lives as David did, so that the Lord could say of us, too: “These are men after my own heart”.

After the sermon the church partook of the Holy Communion in the memory of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

More than that, at the service the church blessed in prayer the newlywed Feodor and Sofia Gvozdikovs and an engaged couple of Dmitry Gavrilkin and Veronika Emelianova.
