Richard Lang preached at Sunday service in “Philadelphia” church in Izhevsk. It was the last sermon in the series that he had been preaching for 3 days during Missionary conference since October, 27. The topic of his sermon was the role of local churches in missionary work. Of course we remember Paul and Barnabas who were set apart by God for missionary work (Acts 13:1-3), but as a rule we do not pay attention to the details. In particular, one might miss the fact that it happened in the church at Antioch during the service of five men, among whom there were Paul and Barnabas. These five men received understanding of the will of God through prayer and fasting. We can come to the conclusion that this selection had a great foundation in church service and brotherly support. Before God speaks His words we need to create atmosphere of fellowship, prayer and fasting in the church.

The preacher appealed to the Gospel to show one other important moment. Speaking about the fields Jesus said: “Don’t you have a saying, “it’s still four months until harvest”? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” (John 4:31-38). God wants to tell us, that it is time to act. It may often seem to us that the soil is not ready, that the fruit is not ripe, but Jesus says it is the right time to move. The preacher came to the conclusion that Jesus fulfilled the last thing that depended on Him, having atoned our lives by His sacrificial death (John 19:30), and now it is our turn.

Senior pastor Pavel read a letter of gratitude from the church in Naberezhnye Chelny and bishop Vasily Evchick for financial support and prayers for the construction of the prayer house in Naberezhnye Chelny.

The church also blessed a newborn daughter of the Timkovs called Svetlana.
